Technology training program under way

July 1, 2010

Propane marketers have given positive reviews to the Marketer Technology Training program from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC).

All 27 people who took part in the program’s first full training session on May 25 – at the North Central 2010 Propane Industry Conference and Trade Show in La Crosse, Wis. – rated the program either a 4 or 5 on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest rating. And they all said that they would recommend the program to others in their company.

The six-hour training session covered the benefits and business potential of propane in commercial lawn mowers and tankless water heaters. The third module in the new training program – one on irrigation engines – was not featured at the North Central 2010 session.

The program is designed to support the propane industry’s efforts in research and development, training, and safety by enhancing marketers’ understanding of propane-fueled products that can help offset seasonal propane demand. The training covers basic installation, energy efficiency and environmental impact, consumer benefits and implementation obstacles.

“To grow, the industry must learn all we can about propane-fueled products that can create new demand and share information about their benefits with potential users,” says PERC President and CEO Roy Willis. “That’s where the PERC Marketer Technology Training program comes in. It gives marketers the information to confidently talk with consumers about propane products that can stimulate propane demand.”
